Hello World indeed! Of all the websites I have ever designed, this is probably the very FIRST (and maybe the last) time I have left these two generic words in place. Somehow they just seem appropriate because this really is a dawning of something totally new. The intention of this website/blog is to chronicle my journey into the nebula of Internet Marketing.
Yep, I’m going to give it a shot and you’re welcome to join me on this intriguing, but downright scary journey into the world of Affiliate Marketing, CPA (cost per action), SEO, List Building, Facebook Ads and all that other tantalizing stuff!
So who am I and why am I starting down this “journey to success”?
My name is William Alexander, but you can call me Bill. I was one of the first web “pioneers” back in the 1990’s, when there were no websites but only bulletin boards. Also back in those days, it was a BIG no-no to try to sell anything online. It was a geek fest to be sure but it wasn’t long before websites came about and evolved into e-commerce and what we now know as Internet Marketing.
I jumped on the website design bandwagon after growing tired of tutoring people on how to use a PC. Website design was my passion and for the past 20 years, I’ve built hundreds of them. Some, went on to yield companies millions of dollars. What did I get? A few thousand bucks (if I were lucky) and a pat on the back. I was too nice a guy to grab a percentage and guess what? Nice guys really do finish last.
I’ve been doing SEO (short for “search engine optimization”) since day one, when I built my first website. Back then, it was like the wild west and getting websites into the first page of Yahoo and the other search engines (oh yes, we had many search engines back then and no such thing as Google) was an easy task. All the crazy, old tricks such as keyword stuffing, white fonts on white page backgrounds, etc. worked VERY well and webmasters truly ruled the web.
….of course that’s all ancient history now.
When Pigs Fly!
Meanwhile, as I continued to build websites and make other people rich, I started finding out about people like Pat Flynn, Mike From Maine and a host of many others. Many of them admittedly had little to NO website technical knowledge. But they did have something I did not…money and financial freedom to hone their craft. WTF??? Exxxcuse me!!!
I began to feel like the last guy in the opera house to turn the lights out. The show had moved on to bigger and brighter venues while I toiled away at making other people rich. So that is what this is all about.
I’ve spent 6 months researching Internet marketing and now I’m ready to start a journey down a new path. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to any Hobbits but I would love to have you join me. I’m sure there will be danger along the way but hopefully many more triumphs than Gollums trying to steal “the Ring”. Like any good webmaster, er Wizard, I have a bag o’ tricks that most Internet marketing “gurus” lack, technical and design expertise. Hopefully we can leverage that to our advantage along the trip.
I will be sharing everything with you including the profit (or losses) I make and the methods I am implementing. I will be adding reviews, podcasts, video and just about anything else that looks promising. Your thoughts, comments and support are greatly appreciated. You truly are welcome….Hello World!
A quick note about the reviews and tool links on this site: I am an affiliate for most every product I review or link to. I purchase these products and test them myself in order to create quality reviews. All my reviews are completed as honestly as possible. I make no promises to the vendor prior to writing my review as to the content of the review. Should you click a link on this site that takes you to a paid product, this link will be an affiliate link and I will be paid a percentage of the sales price should you decide to purchase that product.
